A short interview with me. Thank's defdaafrog for the questions!

• Hello, nice to meet you. Please introduce yourself.

- My name is Nadezhda. I'm an artist from Russia . I'm 35 y.o. I am a book illustrator. Also I have experience as a background artist in animation and art teaching.

• Your Art Is very warm. Since when have you been drawing it like this?

If you mean warm color palette, which I like very much, it took me years of painting practice. I like using limited color range. I also studied other artists' works and appreciated how different people used the warm color palette . Around 14 years ago It gave me understanding how I should use it for myself .

If you mean the warm mood or cozy atmosphere of some of my artworks, I can say that since when I felt the need of an imaginary place of peace, calm, relaxation, and love that I crave as well as my watchers. Everyone needs a place where they can gain strength and restore their energy.

• How do you draw art?

You just grab a pencil and try to express you thoughts through visual images. It takes 5 or 10 sketching attempts to finally get something out of it. When the idea is clear and the solution regarding composition has been found, then I can think about the details. Sometimes the final implementation technique suggests the best composition solutions. In that case I have to make significant composition changes.

• Your art feels very fairytale-like. Do you refer to fairy tales when you get inspiration?

As I’m permanently in search of orders for book illustrations, in my portfolio I should have a few sets of fairy-tails illustrations. I took several fairy tales and tried to illustrate them. However, any picture looks more interesting when there is some action in it. I think inspiration comes when you work hard. So, if i have to give advice I wouldn’t recommend waiting for inspiration before get started to draw. You should just start drawing.

• What should one study to do art like you?

I don't know. I guess it would be fruitful for any artist to learn some things like visual features of anatomy, optical perspective, sketches and studies from real life, different countries' art history, ornaments, costumes, architecture, different traditional and digital art tools and techniques.

• Whats do you bear in mind when you are drawing?

It depends on a plot I'm working on. Just like actors in order to convey a particular emotion one needs to have specific experience from real life. Sad and emotionally tough pictures took me a lot of tears. It is one of the ways to handle your emotions.

• What do you want to do with Art in the future?

I have no plans to change Art. I don't think about any global goals. I just want to live my life, tell nice stories with my art , sell my artworks, get orders and take part in some good projects.

I decided to open #commissions . For a long time I did not do this because I wanted to devote time to my project.
